Still running Drupal 7?

Drupal 7 stopped getting official security fixes on 5 January 2025, and plenty of sites still run it. Whichever version you’re on, we’re Drupal developers who only look after existing sites. Security updates, fixes and the changes on your list, done and recorded in a logbook you own.

From $840 a month. No minimum term.

The problem

Out of support doesn’t mean out of use.

The deadline

Drupal 7 reached end of life on 5 January 2025. The Drupal Security Team no longer publishes fixes for it.

The gap

The upgrade is a project, so it keeps getting pushed back. The site stays live while it waits.

Meanwhile

New vulnerabilities are still being found. On Drupal 7, nobody official is fixing them.

An old site usually isn’t an unimportant one. It’s a busy one.

We’ll tell you plainly where your site stands, look after it in the meantime, and scope the move when you’re ready.

What’s included

Drupal support and maintenance, every month.

Your host keeps running the server. We look after everything on top of it.

Our developers do the work

  • Drupal core and module updates
  • Security patches when a vulnerability is published
  • Fixes when something breaks
  • New features and landing pages
  • Content uploads
  • Works wherever your site is hosted now

We watch it

  • Known vulnerabilities (CVEs) in Drupal core and modules, scanned daily
  • Uptime checked every minute
  • Defacement watch
  • SSL, domain and end-of-life dates
  • Admin access and MFA audit

You get the record

  • A logbook for your site, live and staging
  • Every change, fix and finding, dated
  • Support tickets

The message you get on a Drupal security release

demo.com.au · A Drupal core security release is out, rated highly critical. We’ve updated your site to the fixed version. Nothing for you to do. Entry #0214.

Example. Every site is scanned for known vulnerabilities daily.

Who we are

Fifteen years of building websites. Now we look after them.

BLACKBX is the website service department from UnDigital (opens in a new tab): same company, same developers. Some clients send us one change a month. Others have a full team on their site every month. Our team works out of Sydney, the Sunshine Coast and Ho Chi Minh City, so there’s always someone on it.

Questions

Before you ask.

How much does Drupal maintenance cost in Australia?

With us, Maintenance starts at $840 a month + GST. For that, our developers do the updates, the security patches, the fixes and the changes on your list. If you already have a developer, Monitor is $99 a month + GST: we watch the site and tell your developer what needs doing. If you want us to host it too, Full service is quoted. Every plan is monthly with no minimum term.

What’s included in Drupal maintenance?

With BLACKBX, our developers handle Drupal core and module updates. They also patch security vulnerabilities as soon as they’re published, fix things when they break, and build new features, landing pages and content. We check your Drupal packages daily against published security advisories and check uptime every minute. We also watch your SSL certificate, domain and software end-of-life dates. Every change goes into a logbook you own.

Do you build new Drupal sites?

We look after sites that are already built. New builds and rebuilds are done by UnDigital (opens in a new tab), the build team behind BLACKBX, and launch straight into BLACKBX.

Can we keep our current developer or agency?

Yes. Our developers do the maintenance and yours can keep access. The access is granted and logged, and the logbook records our work.

Do we have to move our hosting?

No. Maintenance works wherever your Drupal site is hosted now. Your host keeps running the server. If you’d rather hand us that too, see Drupal hosting.

Will updates break our site?

Updates are where Drupal sites usually break, because modules and core move at different speeds and most updates come with database changes. That’s why a developer runs them, database updates included, rather than leaving them to chance. Each one is written in your logbook, so you always know what changed and when.

We’re still on Drupal 7. Can you help?

Yes. The free health check shows which version you’re on. On the first call, a developer will tell you what’s at risk on Drupal 7, how we’d look after it in the meantime, and what moving to a current version would take. Rebuilds are done by UnDigital (opens in a new tab), the build team behind BLACKBX.

What does “from $840 a month” depend on?

How much you want done each month: keeping the site updated and patched, plus anything else, from new features to content uploads. We’ll give you a fixed monthly price after the first call.

Is there a minimum term?

No. Monthly, no minimum term. The price you start on is the price you renew on.

Talk to us

Tell us about your Drupal site.

A developer will get back to you, not a salesperson.

Tell us what’s on your list, what’s been bothering you, or just that nobody’s looking after it. We’ll reply with a time to talk.
